My goal for this blog is to keep those interested, potential adopters, foster homes, and volunteers informed and up to date on the latest Last Hope happenings. I hope to post on new, incoming dogs, training and updates as they are with us, and followup after adoptions. If anyone has anything that you would like to know about feel free to put some questions out there.
For my first post, I want to write about a first for me. I have been volunteering with Last Hope for almost a year now. Last week I took part in my first rescue. I heard about a breeder who was considering putting a dog down because she has mange and she was starting to have eye problems. Immediately I felt I had to do something. After confirming that we had room at the shelter I made arrangements to pick up 2 dogs from this breeder. I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up the dogs, but I didn’t expect the dogs to be this bad off. Both dogs, Kimber and Shine, had mange and were in pretty bad shape. They had skin infections and they younger of the 2, Shine, has an eye infection. Both of the dogs have been to the vet and will be on medication for a while. I’ll keep you updated as to how the dogs are doing! I know I’m definitely looking forward to watching these girls improve and being around to see them go to loving homes. This was a very rewarding experience and it is an amazing feeling to know that these dogs will get the love and care that they deserve.
