Cat of the Week: Oscar

Oscar

Oscar is a sweet boy looking for his forever home. He can be a little shy at first but once he knows you’re his friend he loves to rub up against you and climb in your lap. He enjoys being petted and will roll over on his back for belly rubs and likes being picked up and held. He gets along well with other cats with a little time to adjust. Sometimes he can be found curled up to his current roommate. He would love to have a home where he can hang out all day and lounge around in the sun.

Cat of the Week: Alisha

Alisha

Take one look in Alisha’s cheerful, smiling eyes, and pet her as she oh-so-affectionately paws at your arm gently begging for more pets, and you’d have no idea that Alisha is a survivor of horrible neglect and abuse. She’s talkative, outgoing, and gets along well with other cats and any humans she has met.

For the first 2 years of her life, she suffered from severe malnutrition and neglect, stunting her growth. Alisha is the size of a kitten, although she is estimated to be between two and three years old. Because of malnutrition and starvation early in life, she will always be an itty-bitty-kitty.

Alisha 2In more recent months, Alisha and her furry companions were subjected to beatings by mean boys who don’t like cats. Sadly, some of her fur-siblings were killed. One of those meanies shot Alisha in the head with a BB gun, but she received surface wounds that healed up perfectly with treatment. Some kind folks stepped in and helped Alisha find a rescue group where she could safely heal up from her BB injuries, get good vet care, and get her belly fed with all of the nutritious food she can eat.

She looks like a kitten, and she’s playful like a kitten. Did we mention she is the most forgiving, lovable, little survivor we’ve ever met? If you want a kitty that loves people (despite everything) and really wants her own special human being to be her best friend, Alisha’s your girl.

Alisha is spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and FIV and Feline Leukemia negative.

For more information about Alisha, please email adoptions@lasthoperescueia.org. An adoption application can be completed HERE. Adoption fee $40.

Cat of the Week: Stefan

Stefan

Stefan 2I’m Stefan, and my friends are jealous because I am such a beautiful, Bengal boyI love spending time with my foster family and their 2 cats.  They also have a dog that I like to watch and sometimes hiss at, but I’m getting used to him.  I’m very playful and love my kitty toys.  Especially the stuffed birds that make noise.   I love my food and if my roommates don’t eat all of theirs I will help myself!!  My foster mom loves to rub me all over and I lay in her lap and sleep with her almost every day.  I can be kind of shy at first but I warm up pretty quickly.  My foster family is always telling me what a good boy I am and give me lots of kisses which I love.

Stefan 3Stefan is neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. Indoor homes only. Adoption fee $75.00.

If you’d like to meet Stefan, or learn more about him, please contact adoptions@lasthoperescueia.org. An adoption application can be completed at HERE.

Cat of the Week: Callie

Callie

Callie the calico is a sweet and easy-going special needs kitty.  She is about 7 years old. It’s hard not to fall in love with her. She purrs continuously, she likes to be near you, and loves being petted. Callie has a disability that she was born with. She has hip dysplasia, deformed kneecaps, and is bow legged so her back legs don’t hold her up very well. Despite her limitations, Callie gets around just fine and isn’t in any pain.  It’s easier for her to get around on carpet as wood or tile is slippery and harder for her to get traction. But she can scoot around on slick floors when necessary.  She cannot jump, so she would love it if you lift her up to the couch so she can hang out with you, and help her get down afterward.

Callie 2Callie loves cat toys, and gets along with mellow cats and dogs that won’t chase or bother her.  She needs a tender, loving owner that has time to give her attention. She uses a litterbox just fine, and likes having a kennel she can go in and out of as she pleases. She likes her kennel in her foster home, and retreats to it when she wants some quiet time.

Callie has so much love to give and really wants to be someone’s loving companion cat! Callie is spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, up to date on her vaccinations, and front declawed. Please contact adoptions@lasthoperescueia.org for more information about her. An adoption application can be completed HERE.

Cat of the Week: Angel

Angel

Angel 2Hi! My name is Angel. I’m about a year old and I’m really hoping I’ll find my forever home soon! Not that I mind my foster home but they have a big scary dog that I don’t really like. So if you don’t have a big scary dog I’d love to come home with you! (I don’t mind the little one, but the big guy likes to try to play with me and I’d rather not do that…) I do love my foster cat brother. It took a few days for me to decide that he was ok but once I figured out how cool he was we run and play all the time.  My favorite thing to do is to curl up on my foster mom’s lap at the end of the night. Even if she’s putting the baby to sleep, as long as there’s room I’ll be there! I love to sleep in her bed and cuddle with her too. I’ll even spend some time in the crib with my human foster sister at nap time! I really love to cuddle!

If you like to cuddle too would you consider meeting me? I’ve been told I’m a great cuddle buddy and I can’t wait to meet you! If you want to come meet me you can email my foster mom at cdmcguire88@gmail.com. You can also complete an application HERE.

Cat of the Week: Bean

Bean

Bean is a gorgeous, long-haired orange tabby.

When Bean came to Last Hope, he was a sickly, starving kitten who weighed half of what he should. We have no idea how long he wandered cold, snowy rural Iowa roads; but his luck changed when a kind-hearted couple found him and brought him to Last Hope.

Bean 2You should see him now. This gorgeous little lion has a healthy and very fluffy coat. He has these adorable fluffy tufts between each of his orange toes. He also has the softest, sweetest little mew. Bean has been a shy and quiet boy who took some time to gain his trust. He was very fearful of humans at first. Who knows what this poor little guy went through before he was rescued!

Bean has really come out of his shell, however. He is still quiet and shy, but he’s learned to roll over on his side for attention, and wraps his big, fluffy tail around his human’s legs affectionately. He has a terrific little purr.

Bean is an easygoing guy, and he gets along fabulously with his foster cat brothers and sisters (of all ages). He naps with them and rubs along their sides affectionately. He’s even learned to tolerate the big, slobbery dog. He should only live in homes with mellow and cat-savvy dogs, if any at all.

Bean 3Bean will be timid until he feels safe in in environment and gets to know you. Bean needs a caregiver who is calm and patient, and who is capable of building trust with a timid kitty. He requires a quiet and stable home. However, once he gets to know you, we guarantee he will be a loving and loyal housecat. We’ve seen him become this in just 4 months of giving him our unconditional love.

Bean has been fully vetted. He is FIV and FeLV negative, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Indoor homes only.

If you’re interested in Bean, please complete an application HERE.
