Barks and Brew Sponsor: Cedar Run

Last Hope recently held the first Barks and Brew event and it was a huge success due, in large part, to our terrific sponsors! One of our sponsors at The Growler level is Cedar Run Pet Boarding and Daycare. Last Hope, its volunteers, and all its adoptable animals thanks them for their support. Here is information about Cedar Run:

Our 5 by 8 foot privacy-paneled (as opposed to chain-link) suites provide the personal space, coziness, and security that will comfort your pet while you are away. Not only does each suite have a doggie-door and heated floors, but when your canine friend feels the urge to sunbathe or enjoy the fresh air, they can do so on their individual outside patios.

Cedar RunThe spa-like atmosphere cultured in the fabulous accommodations does not stop with the suites. Cedar Run has many more ways to pamper your pet. You can set up an appointment with our groomer for a mani-pedi and a blowout for the day you pick up your pet (or any other day that suits your fancy). Also offered are invigorating scrubs and personalized hairstyles, to name a couple.

If spoiling your pet with spa services is not your thing, don’t be discouraged. We also offer training classes and doggie daycare. Bring your pooch our way and let him play with other dogs while you are away at work. Cedar Run has two different doggie daycare areas (based on size and play style) so there is no need to fret that your Chihuahua GiGi might get stepped on by Brutus the Rottweiler. If you suffer from separation anxiety when away from your pet, or you just want to see how they are spending their day, will have a live feed of the indoor and outdoor playgrounds here on our website. We are also setting up a phone program where you will be able to send a text message to inquire about your pet.

Stop by Cedar Run Pet Boarding and Daycare today! You can reserve a suite for your pet in person or call us at (319) 393-1362.

We encourage you to stop by the facility for a tour and to meet the staff.

Please consider visiting Cedar Run and letting them care for your furbaby. Their website can be found HERE.

October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month

October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month and, unfortunately, there are always plenty of dogs available at local shelters and rescues to adopt. Not all of us are able to adopt a dog, but there are still plenty of things you can do to help them find forever homes:

  1. “Donate” your Facebook status. Just paste this message into the “What’s on your mind?” box at the top of your page: “October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month! Save a life; adopt a dog from Last Hope Animal Rescue http://www.lasthoperescueia.org/ or contact them for volunteer opportunities or donation needs!”
  2. Tweet, retweet, and repeat the following:  “October is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month! Save a life; adopt a dog from Last Hope Animal Rescue http://www.lasthoperescueia.org/ or contact them for volunteer opportunities or donation needs! #savedogs”
  3. Shelter DonationContact your local shelter or rescue group and ask if they have a donation wish list or other flyer they’d like you to post around your office or neighborhood. They may be holding special events for Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month which you can help promote.
  4. Share an adoptable dog happy tail story on your blog, Facebook, or Twitter (#savedogs). You can find Last Hope’s happy tails right here on this blog!
  5. Sign up as a foster parent or rescue volunteer then tell your friends how great it is. Contact your local shelter or rescue group to find out how you can help.
  6. Add a Petfinder widget or banner to your website or blog.
  7. Write an op-ed about the importance of pet adoption for your local newspaper.
  8. Contact your local shelter or rescue group and offer to photograph their adoptable pets.
  9. Donate to your local shelter or rescue group.
  10. Pass on an understanding of the importance of pet adoption to the next generation. Talk to your kids, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and other up-and-comers about shelters and rescue groups and why pet adoption is important.

There are many things you can do to help even if you’re not able to adopt a dog! The first step is to contact your local rescue group and ASK. They’ll be happy to talk to you about volunteering opportunities and other ways you can help.

With Gratitude

WWWW2 WW4

Last Hope would like to say “thank you” to Iowa GymNest and to Kandi and Gwendy. They chose Last Hope as their charity recipients this year for their Winter Wonderland event which was held last weekend at the Marriot in Coralville. They reached out to Last Hope and asked if we would be interested in pairing up with them to raise awareness and donations for the organization. The Winter Wonderland competition included 31 teams with over 600 kids participating. Over the three day event, Iowa GymNest and competition participants raised $385 and collected a car load of dog and cat items including food, toys, treats, kitty litter, etc.

Thanks again to Iowa GymNest for reaching out and providing such a great opportunity for Last Hope and for your efforts for the great animals that are in our care!
